There is no known safe amount of substance use for a healthy pregnancy. Reducing exposure to substances during pregnancy helps support healthy development for both you and your baby.
If you’re pregnant, a parent, or working to reunite with your children, you can access services to support your whole family. These services may include:
- Medical care for you and your child(ren)
- Mental health and/or substance use treatment
- Case management to help coordinate your care
- Transportation to appointments
- Support to help you navigate challenges like difficult relationships or intimate partner violence

Navigating substance use or recovery can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. There are resources available to support you and your family. Use our search tool to find resources tailored to your needs, and explore some key family programs:
- MyTime offers a space where you can pause, connect, and easily focus on yourself—without guilt, without pressure. Over ten weeks, you’ll meet with other women who understand your pregnancy or parenting journey, share your experiences, and grow alongside you as you foster resilience. You’ll discuss topics such as stress, substance use, relationship challenges and more as you build skills for a healthy lifestyle. Free childcare and meals are provided to make this a space where you can focus on yourself.
- Let’s Talk Cannabis, One More Conversation, and Parent Up are tools that encourage healthy family communication.
- Order free prevention materials from the Vermont Alcohol and Drug Information Clearinghouse (VADIC)
- Strong Families Vermont Home Visiting partners with you and make your parenting journey easier.
- Lund’s Residential Treatment Program offers substance use treatment in a residential setting, where mothers can live with their children while going through their treatment process.
- Parents in Recovery groups offer peer support and community – Find a group.
- 802 Quits provides free support and medications to help with quitting smoking and other tobacco products. If you are pregnant or a new parent, you can earn up to $250 in gift cards while working towards a tobacco-free life.

- Vermont WIC - WIC provides food benefits, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, counseling and programs for pregnant women, parents and caregivers with children under 5.
- Local Health Offices – VDH Local Health Offices offer services like WIC, nutrition education, oral health care, lead prevention and home safety, immunizations, and more.
- Move Your Way - Education on exercise in pregnancy and ideas on activities.
