If you are pregnant and seeking help for substance use, you will be prioritized for treatment. Recovery is possible and getting support makes a difference – for your health and your family’s future.

Services are available for people who are pregnant or parenting 

If you’re pregnant, parenting, or working to reunite with your children, you can access services designed to support your whole family. These services may include: 

  • Medical care for you 
  • Pediatric care for your child(ren) 
  • Substance use treatment and support to help you navigate challenges like difficult relationships or intimate partner violence 
  • Counseling for you and/or your child(ren) 
  • Case management to help coordinate care 
  • Transportation support so that you and your child(ren) can get to appointments

Being pregnant or parenting while navigating substance use or recovery can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. There are resources available to support you and your family. Use our search tool to find resources tailored to your needs, and explore some key programs below: 

  • Parent Child Centers offer parenting education programs in every region of Vermont. Contact your local center to learn what’s available. 
  • Parent Up VT provides quick and reliable information to help parents stay informed about topics like mental health and substance use – and start open conversations with your children and teens. 
  • Lund’s Residential Treatment Program offers substance use treatment in a residential setting, where mothers can live with their children while going through their treatment process. 
  • Parents in Recovery groups offer support and community – Find a group.
  • MyTime focused on substance use and its effects for mothers, providing connection and education in addition to free childcare and meals
  • 802 Quits provides free support and medications to help with quitting smoking and other tobacco products. If you are pregnant or a new parent, you can earn up to $250 in gift cards while working towards a tobacco-free life.

Reducing exposure to substances during pregnancy helps support healthy development for both you and your baby. Prevention also gives parents and caregivers the tools to guide their children’s choices around alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.  

Several resources offer valuable information and education about substances during pregnancy and parenting.
